A Night Out

On Saturday, we attended the First Term Ball at BYU-Hawaii which Brent has been working feverishly to put together. The theme was 1940's Swinging On A Star. It was a huge success with a live big band, chocolate fountains, beautiful decorations, dancing lessons, and a pretty good turnout. Everyone who came really enjoyed themselves. I had fun getting dressed up (although, as much as I wanted to dress for the theme, my choices were somewhat limited because I don't fit in most of my clothes anymore:(

But I have to say my favorite part of the dance was seeing these advertisements all around campus in the weeks leading up to it.
What a hottie!

Baby Shower

In July, I had the opportunity to fly home for a couple weeks and spend time in Boise and Utah with my family. Sadly, Brent couldn't come with me because he was right in the middle of Summer Term:( But while I was home, my wonderful sisters-in-law, mom, and mother-in-law threw me THE CUTEST baby shower ever. Baseball themed! If you know Brent or I, you know that they couldn't have picked a more appropriate theme. And they couldn't have done a better job with the food, decorations, and games. Loved it!

It was so wonderful to see all of you who were able to make it! And thank you for all the gifts to help us get ready for little baby boy! I came back with more than a suitcase full of exciting and cute baby things to show Brent!

And here's a picture of me at 26 weeks, 2 days. I think my shirt makes it hard to tell how big I am, but I feel like baby grew a ton while I was at home! I thought maybe Brent wouldn't be able to recognize me when he picked me up from the airport.

Baby is kicking a ton now and I love to feel it. I can't believe we'll get to meet him in just three short months! I've got my maternity tours, childbirth class, and pediatrician consultations scheduled. We've even got a bed, car seat, and stroller. It's getting so close and we're definitely getting excited to meet our little guy!

The Fourth: Hawaiian Style

So I know this post is a bit late, but our Fourth of July celebration was perfect and I didn't want to skip blogging about it.

We slept in since Brent didn't have to go to school, then we packed up all our food, our grill, and our towels and headed to the beach with our friends. We found a big, beautiful, and secluded spot on Sunset Beach and we had the perfect setup for a long day of relaxing and playing in the sun.

With the grills cooking up hamburgers, hot dogs, and freshly speared fish, and a surfboard and body board to keep us entertained, we had quite the day at the beach. Around 5pm, we packed up and drove down the road to Turtle Bay Resort where we could watch a fireworks show against the backdrop of the beautiful Hawaiian mountains. While we waited for it to get dark, we laid out our towels, unpacked our grills, and cooked up some delicious steak and potatoes for dinner. I couldn't have imagined a more perfect way to celebrate Independence Day with some of our favorite friends.
